Google Analytics Implementation Check

This guide helps you verify that Google Analytics is collecting data correctly on the myTRS website.

Current Implementation

The website uses Google Analytics 4 with the following configuration:

  • Measurement ID: G-JRJ6S4LBDV
  • Google Tag Manager ID: GTM-KLXC4TFK
  • Implementation Method: Both direct GA4 tags and Google Tag Manager

Why Am I Not Seeing Data?

If you're not seeing data in your Google Analytics reports, there are several potential reasons:

  1. Collection Delay: Google Analytics typically has a processing delay:

    • Standard reports can take 24-48 hours to fully populate
    • Real-time reports should show data within a few minutes
  2. Implementation Issues: The tracking code might not be firing correctly.

  3. Filter Settings: You might have filters excluding your traffic.

  4. Ad/Tracking Blockers: Your browser might be blocking the Google Analytics scripts.

How to Verify Your Implementation

Method 1: Use the Analytics DebugView

  1. Go to your GA4 property → Admin → DebugView
  2. Install the Google Analytics Debugger Chrome extension
  3. Enable the extension by clicking its icon
  4. Browse the myTRS website - you should see events appear in DebugView

Method 2: Check Network Requests

  1. Open Chrome DevTools (F12 or right-click → Inspect)
  2. Go to the Network tab
  3. Filter for "collect" or "google-analytics"
  4. Reload the page and navigate around the site
  5. Look for requests to google-analytics.com or googletagmanager.com

Method 3: Use Our Debug Page

We've created a special debug page to help you verify Google Analytics:

  1. Go to /analytics-debug
  2. Check the status indicators (all should be green)
  3. Use the "Send Test Event" button to manually send an event
  4. Check DebugView to see if your test event appears

Additional Troubleshooting

If you're still not seeing data:

  1. Disable Ad Blockers: Temporarily disable any ad blockers or privacy tools

  2. Try Incognito Mode: Use Chrome's incognito mode to eliminate extension conflicts

  3. Check Console for Errors: Look for JavaScript errors related to analytics

  4. Verify Consent Mode: If you've declined cookies, analytics may be disabled

  5. Clear Cache and Cookies: Sometimes clearing your browser cache helps
